Web Hosting Services and Its Purposes
There are many different types of web hosting services out there, but before I actually talk about them, I will discuss first what they are so that you can better understand the topic.
When you think about the best web hosting, you generally think about a website and a server. Any website needs to be housed on a server for it to be visible and accessible on the internet. Without a good server, your website is basically considered as a local thing, meaning that it can only be accessed within a local network.
That being said, a web hosting company is basically a company that houses many servers and they maintain a good lot of it. Any time a client gets a hold of their services, they’re basically giving them a small chunk of space on their servers.
They also make use of fast internet connection speeds to ensure that the service will be the best at all times without worrying too much about bandwidth constraints.
Now that you know what a web hosting company does, what are the usual things that people look for when it comes to choosing one? Well, the answer is not really cut and dry because it really depends on the individual requirements of the client.
Dedicated Hosting Service
As the name implies, dedicated hosting services manage a dedicated server. It is called as such because whenever a client gets a lease, they will be the only one who will be using that server and no one else. This means that the performance and speed will be really good across the board, but you have to take note that this is also the most expensive service as well.
Once you take a dedicated server, you’re given the freedom to choose the operating system that the server will use, as well as the hardware, the database, and the data storage options.
Shared Hosting Service
When dedicated servers allow clients to take solo place in one particular server, a shared hosting service will give you access to a server, albeit it is more publicly open.
What I am trying to say is that whenever you reach out for this service, you’re going to have to share one server with plenty of different clients.
Now, this is not to say that your service will be compromised by any means; no, not at all. You can rest assured that your data will be intact and will not be tampered by anyone else other than you.
The premise of a shared hosting service is that you’re going to share the domain and the bandwidth of the server that houses the different websites. This just means that the bandwidth and performance may not be up to par with more dedicated servers.
Still, this is something that a lot of people choose because it is so much cheaper and the services that are given are quite nice given the price.
Should You Take Free?
Well, free web hosting services are a pain to use simply because there is no privacy at all. You can still use it for personal websites, but if you are using it for business, I suggest that you spend some money and get either a dedicated or a shared web hosting service.
